Facebook is a great way to market your company to a huge community of online customers, whilst building up a community of your own. Creating a Facebook business page is quick and easy to do, and it’s a great way of channelling some of the social media giant’s 500 million users towards your website. Here are some tips on how to set up and run a Facebook business page.
Create a Facebook page
In general, it’s better for businesses to have a Fan Page rather than a personal page. On a fan page, a person can show appreciation of your site by clicking a ‘Like’ button – a process which also automatically makes them a follower, thus growing your community. When setting up the page, you’ll need to enter details such as company info, contact details etc. You can also adjust privacy settings.
Start posting messages
Once you’ve created the page, it’s time to start posting messages. Try and make posts useful to readers and relevant to your business as helpful and engaging content will lend your company credibility. Post messages frequently and regularly, and try to respond to user comments to build up a rapport. Communicating in this way leaves visitors feeling valued, helps promote a good business relationship, and increases the chance of good word of mouth being spread about your company.
Join Facebook groups
Join related Facebook groups and start following influential people in your field who have Facebook pages. Communicating with these Facebook users will get your brand seen by more people, many of whom are likely to be interested in your business sector. Again, when posting comments, avoid aggressively promoting your business, and instead, slowly build confidence in your brand by offering useful tips, advice and support.
Promote your business page
To help alert the world to your new Facebook presence, ensure that your company website has a Facebook link on each and every page, and one at the bottom of emails. You can also print the logo with a ‘Join us on Facebook’ message on brochures and flyers etc.
Offer followers exclusive deals
Exclusive deals for Facebook followers will help generate business. They could also grow your community of followers if existing followers decide to alert other Facebook users to the special offer.
Facebook Insights
When you have set up your page you can use Facebook Insight to analyse the success of the Page. The Facebook Insight tool is a free analytics tool which allows you to assess what works on your page and what doesn’t. By doing this you can tweak future content to ensure that it’s as engaging as possible.
Buy Facebook ads
Finally, if you have cash to spare in the marketing budget, you can always promote your page via paid Facebook ads. With Facebook ads, you can point people directly to you by having an advert appear on their own Facebook page. To specifically target the advert, you simply select keywords from other Facebook user’s profiles. Demographic filters include sex, age, location, educational level, and relationship status.
